Had to take a few days off from my car-projects and enjoy the nice summer weather and stuff, but now im back. at least as much as possible, as im still saving money for the bodyshop to fix my chassis. Anyway, i ordered a few stickers from JNC because i think they should be on every classic Japanese car :-)

Also a few small parts from japan should arrive here soon.. :)

@ estri. hi - sounds cool, maybe once you're at the other end of switzerland let me know :) thanks a lot, EG are also pretty cool cars. so light and great handling :)

@ all:
As i mentioned before things slowed down a bit. first because of all the christmas stuff and second because of the lack of space for parts in my garage.. so i had to change things to get more space for the project and the only solition is to get the other car sleeping in there out. and now i've sourced a warehouse to store it and just wait for the weather to get better so i can roll my summer car into it's new winter-home :)

then i got another book and i think i have now all information ever needed to dis-and assamble the whole car :D

Whith racing activities near the local Bergrennen-Oberhallau Hilclimb race i felt like i have to work on my car today. tomorrow i'll attend the hillclimb and make some photos.
Anyway - my motivation got a little lost when i hadn't really an idea what i could do at the moment so the only really useful thing i found to do was disasamble the old Exhaust :)
complete:

and disasambled:

then i decided to give my chaotic garage a little clean-up.. Before:

and after - way better :)

Well i maybe was a bit over-motivated when i thought i could tear down the front suspension and steering-stuff assembly within an hour but anyway, i got something done :)
Thats how the assembly looked in the beginning:
Image

Bushings are really unusable and need replacement:
Image

Removed a few scews and stuff and got the center frame thing out:
Image

Sadly somehow i got stuck then and wasn't able to contiune and ended up like this:
Image

Does anyone know how i get this damn Tierod-endling thing out from the Suspension base?
Removed all t he scews so far but don't have an ideo how to get them removed..?!

Just bash it with hammer put the nut back on so you would not damage thread. And then bash with hummer on the red part where tie rod sits. It will slowly pop out on my Mazda 121/rx5 1977 it pop out fast after 2-3 medium strength hits in other hand when i was fixing my Mazda SP20 (2002y) it pop out after nearly 15-20 min of super strong hits.
There is a special tool to do that as well but 90% of ppl and mechanics don't use it coz it destroys rubber surround which is already gone in your case.

1) Got some new genuine Fan, Fanbelt and Fan clutch from MSA as the original one was missing:

2) started again to tear down that front axle, suspension assembly..
thanks to "skyblue521" Video-tip in my Ratsun Build thread (Thanks a lot mate!!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDsci-izhhc&feature=player_embedded
i was able to remove the tierod end links like described in the video. thanks a lot man :)
That's how it all started today:
Image

first: got those tierod end links out *yay* :)

then i removed the steering rod connector:

Removed the front arms (or whatevere these parts are called in english)

Brake skid plates (sorry for all those wrong names :D)

And that's how it all looked at the end of two hours. had to clean all my tools from that much grease, but im pretty happy with today's progress..
Image

Also just sent some big money to japan, so you can be sure i'll get some rare out-of-production parts from japan again soon - had to secure a few parts from the last in-stock :)

You're fine, a lot of us native English speakers refer to strange parts of our cars as "this thingy" or "that thingy."

First i removed those tierod-end links:
Image

then rmoved this "thing" (have now idea what it's used for.. anyone?)
Image

Next: Got the steering linkage off:
Image

Then removed the bots and that's how it looked at the end:
Image

Then started to remove the rear axles:
Image

removed the "Moustache bar" from the diff:
Image

and the front differential support bar:
Image

and finally - that's how it all looked.. still needs some work :)
Image

and this:

More to come soon. i'll try to push the suspension rebuild a little now, because it seems like the body needs it's time until it get's rebuilt...

why does anyone ever sprayed all that parts red and gold? it just sits under a car and gets dirty.. i never get that.

Just powdercoat it all satin black..

@ Eric:
Well when this was done it was the "Manta-age" You remember that plush interieur it had in the beginning? :) Now you see, that guy wanted to build some kind of 70'ties showcar - that's the reason why i think :)
Anyway- as soon as all is disasembled i will definitly clean all the parts, get them all sandblasted and powdercoated in satin black. i kinda like the gold but the red sucks and well - black is just the best for underbody-parts i guess.. Also i'll replace all the screws i think. but one step by another :)

:tu: :tu: :tu: For powder coating in satin black. The PO of my 240Z also decided to paint a lot of underbody/brake stuff in red...and it is SUPER embarassing to drive the car around like that still haha. Definitely on the list for sand blast/satin black
