So, I have an 80 Corolla hatchback/sport coupe and the gasket/seal around the rear hatch glass is shot. My question is, anyone know of a place to by it new, or a universal type that can be modified to work? I remembered reading other owners of this type of car having the same issue, but never found a viable solution.

Thanks.

What is your chassis code? If I have that I can check with the place I had mine done at and see if they can do anything. If they don't have it sometimes if you give them the dimensions and lots of pictures they can make you one. Let me know

K. Pretty sure it's TE72, but I will check.

I contacted the company that produces my weatherstrips about your car. They said they can do TE71 rear weatherstrips, but they are not sure if TE72 weatherstrips are the same as 71s I looked and compared them, they seem to be the same but if you can take pictures or know of any differences let me know. I will see if I can find any more information about the differences. What weatherstrips exactly are you looking for?

Mine also says TE72 but I have a different rear glass then yours. I do believe all U.S. spec cars are chassis code TE72. I would call a local glass shop and see what they say. You might have to find a used one and try to make it work. I'm in the same boat as you as mine cracked and was leaking. It was plugged with some silicone. It seems like the corners are separate pieces of rubber. I will post up some pic in a little bit.

Have you ever ordered from them? They list it and with shipping it says 78. Seems reasonable, I think.

My concern is they list the same part number for my coupe and the liftback, which have different size and shape on the rear window.

Thanks to the link for village Toyota They do cross reference the parts for the lift back and the coupe. I sent them a email and see if they can get some pictures of the parts. As You can see mines in rough shape.

Do you have a cross section of the gasket?

Steele Rubber products - http://www.steelerubber.com/ - has been suppling the classic and antique auto industry for a few years now.

You might find a gasket solution from them....
