so this is racking my brain. i got a simple replacment radio for my te72 2 dr sedan. my plugs were already cut off of my harness. what i know so far is there were two plugs on factory radio. one with two wires, blue/black, white/ black. then another plug with four wires, blk/rd,blk/wht,red,white. the four wired plug controls front left and right speakers. the two wired plug suplies switched 12v and ground.
my new radio has four wires and an antenna socket. blue/left speaker+, green right speaker+, black right and left-, and a fused red wire for 12v source, it says to connect red wire to ignition?? why.
i tried to hook it up by directions. and the radio does nothing at all. is there just a simple way to hook it up? i dont need constant 12v for memory ar anything like that. the new radio also has two rca cables for speakers out the back. are those just for aftermarket speakers...newer technology??
if anyone has helpful advice i need help bad. i just want some tunes man.

Did you connect the ground led? or the radio body grounded?

I can't help much as far as specific to te27 however aftermarket stereos only require two wire hook up to turn on and are all pretty much standardized. The other things wires should be for speakers and accessories. Red and yellow wires are main power and memory wires. Black is a ground wire. If those wires are hooked to the correct source your radio should at least power on. I would concentrate on getting the radio to power on then worry about sound coming from the speakers. As for finding out what wires do what get a 12v test light (pretty cheap from local auto store) and hook alligator clip to a ground touching each of the wires going into the main power plug. One should get a solid light with the ignition in off position one should get a solid light when the ignition on and one should be a ground. The solid light with ignition off is memory. The one that comes on when the ignition is on is main power switch and of coarse you can always ground the grounds to the frame. If you don't get lights with the test light you might not be getting 12v to the plug and may have to tap or run a new wire. You may also want to check your fuses. You may have inadvertently popped one when you were trying to hook up the new stereo. If I can help in any other way let me know
