can we get an educated discussion going on the various front ends on "*e7*" cars.. and more importantly.. what swaps, or what is needed for a swap..

quad rounds..

same only blacked out?

square front..
Image
(smaller, less angled side markers?)

Image
(larger, more slanted side markers?)

do those cover it..? this is by no means starting as an informational thread.. more a discussion.. but with a collabo of know how and know what it could become a info thread..

i want to put quad rounds on my car.. and it has the last of the pics posted.. i'm thinking the cut out for the side markers is different.. so i would need fenders, and the head lights with all their bits and pieces.. also.. do the light brackets mount the same..? or are the core supports different..?

I have done the conversion before but on 81's. Straight plug in and bolt up except for the marker lights I had to splice IIRC. Been awhile. Also the front valance is different so that has to be changed.
For the 82 corolla, fenders, hood and wiper cowl need to be changed from what my friends who have done it, tell me. The hood is slightly wider on 82/83 and wont work with the 80/81 fenders.
your third pic is a 82/83 hardtop and none of the body parts are interchangeable with the sedan.

The quad setup is ok, but I have never been a big fan of it. I know alot of guys like to convert to that front end especially since it looks more vintage. I myself light the regular square front end. The all black front end is ok, but looks so much better when you add chrome. Like I did with my 81 Sport Coupe.

I did the conversion on my car.

Long block front to slant front.

Items that change are : Bonnet, fenders, grill, top and bottom valance.
You also need the section where the lights fit into.

In South Africa, this is how we identify them.

Small block light. 1980-1982
Big block light. 1983-1987
Slant front.1983-1987

Question is which one do you have?

Before : viewtopic.php?t=12351

This is how it looks now with the slant front, But Ive sold the car about 2 weeks back
