 Post subject: 77 Celica Rear Diff making noise, T372 or T382?

Hello All,

noob here and I tried searching and found nothing. I have a 77 celica coupe and the rear diff is making nosies. I want to replace and have been searching for a complete "pumpkin". I checked my firewall and it says T372, however all I have been able to find was T382. My question is will a T382 fit into my celica coupe or do I need to find a T372?

It should. It is a 'T' code axle so it should be the same, pending it coming from another celica of the same vintage. the 38 in 382 is the gear ratio. 37 is 3.58 and 38 is 3.42. The last digit '2' means it is an open diff.

ive got a complete rear end from an 81 celica T372, new bearings seals about 2-3 years ago, let me know if your interested, socal location
