Hi!

I would my Camry to look a bit more JDM-like after the long winter-break, so I´m searching for some parts from Japan.

Our european Camrys already have the huge black frontlip and the smaller bumpers as you can see in the pics, so it doesn´t look as ugly as the US-version (Sorry! ), but I would like it to look a bit more exotic, say JDM.

Fender-mirrors are not allowed here if not standard, so this item is not possible. What would you do?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Lukas

I used to drive an all-trac Camry. I switched back to Subaru after Toyota stopped releasing a majority of them in the states. I really wish Toyota would bring back the all-trac badge. Would have love to have similar choices of having the lineup of Camry, Corolla, wagon, celica, previa, etc, in all-trac!

Fitting fender mirrors is not possible here, sadly.

Does someone have pics of JDM-Camrys? Maybe they had different grills or some accessories I can retrofit to make it more JDM-looking.

It´s really horrible with this car, if you do a search on the internet it seems this car only existed in the US.

It´s not that easy here. If I put them on, I will get pulled over and I have to take the plates of my car because it´s not legal to drive anymore. The EU-laws say that fendermirrors have to be flexible and are only allowed at cars which had them new. The last cars that had them new were from the 70s.

If I put them on, I´ll never pass our annual road-safety-inspection anymore and I will get pulled over, so this is NOT possible. Sadly.

Yeah, it seems to have been built and designed specifically for the North American market. Not sure I've ever even seen one from Japan...

Heck, if you really want to be different maybe you should look into making it look more USDM... :P

Oh no, the USDM-Camry looks horrible with it´s big bumpers and without the frontlip... :td:

The Camry was available in Japan too, look here:

I´d like the grille and those little chrome things on the fenders.

In Australia is was the Holden Apollo. I kinda dig this funky front...

Wikipedia says it's called a Toyota Vista in Japan?

I'm guessing the Vista shares platform/drivetrain, but not "skin"...

One thing that almost amazes me the most is that although the Camry is such a popular vehicle in the US it seems it´s absolutely not popular in the JNC-scene. Can´t figure out why. I am the only Camry-man here, am I?

Ummm... It's a little too "new" for most of us.

Lots of folks here would not consider that a classic/nostalgic car. Too modern.

Must be the difference in climate too. Here, if a car lasts 20 years, which is very long, it´s an old car. You don´t see many cars older than 20 years on the streets as daily-drivers, especially no old japanese cars. That´s the reason why I was allowed to take part in the Classic-Toyota-meeting at the Toyota-Museum in Germany too.

Very similar to the Northeastern section of the US, aka "the rust belt". You seldom see even cars that are 15 years old.

In the southwest US, cars don't rust nearly as much so you do see plenty of 20-year-old+ cars around.

You can also make it look like an Holden Apollo.

Where are the pics to this? :)

Camrys like yours can still be found all over the place in the US. Unfortunately a car has to be almost extinct before people start to feel nostalgic about them again...

The Vista is more like the Lexus ES250 than the Camry :D :tu:
