Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Eric, I'm from Orange County CA. A little background about my enthusiasm, I've been pro jdm since I was a kid. I've owned and built a fair share of imports, FC rx7, EP3 Si, DC2 GSR, UA6 TL, and a long time owner of a 71 510. It was all fun but I've decided to get something with a little more nostalgia. I just picked up a 72 GC10 a few weeks back and have been lurking many forums for any good info as I begin the new project. Seems to be some good people here on jnc so I decided to join the family. I'll be sure to get you all some pictures this weekend!

Welcome, looking forward to seeing your new Skyline. I think this site suits the US Vintage Skyline Owners. There are other Skyline sites out there which seem to focus more on R32's on up.

By my count, we're on 10 in the San Francisco Bay Area, and many more in SoCal.

Here's what she looked like when I first took her home. After the basic run through, oil change, coolant change, spark plugs, cap and rotor, valve adjustment, carb rebuild, and hours of tinkering with the adjustments shes running pretty well. I've still got a flat spot through the mid range but I'm banking on the fact that the jets are all out of whack. Once the correct jets are installed it should sort itself out.






The orange spokes were interesting, after closer inspection they were spray painted. These are SSR MkII wheels, 3 piece with a healthy width and offset.. Not cheap in the least so a backyard spray job doesn't really do them justice. However, since they've already been sprayed I figure they can't get any worse. The orange and silver is not exactly my cup of tea so I removed the wheels, masked the tires and gave them a fresh coat of primer followed by flat. I also replaced the hardware with class 8.8 Gold fasteners. IMO they turned out quite well. This will hold me over until I can decide which route to go with these wheels. Also while I had the wheels off, I took some time to paint the front calipers.

Good looking car. It looks way better with the black wheels. I wish I would of check it out when it was so close to me. Keep the updates coming and have fun with it.

Honestly after letting it sink in the orange and silver was decent. The flat takes all the depth out of these wheels. I might go back to silver barrels but keep the black faces. Im tossing around the idea of polishing the outer barrell to match the chrome/sliver scheme.

I think polished lips works really well with that design of wheel. I had a set of orange MkIIs on my MX5

Drive510, no plans for JCCS just yet. I've got some serious work to do before she's show ready. I wouldn't want to show and be nitpicked to death. I'd say a year from now I'd feel comfortable after some of the cancer is cured and interior has been refreshed.

Kev, polished lips with orange look super clean on your Miata. For mine, I'd think polished with gunmetal or gloss black would do the sedan justice. Btw Kev, your build thread is spot on. I'm inspired to follow suit and create a build thread.
